Hucker’s Guide

Along with the progression of whitewater the Columbia River Gorge has become a major destination for class V whitewater enthusiasts. This 80 mile long gorge, now developed into long lakes generating massive amounts of hydro power, is the only sea-level passage through the Cascade Mountains and marks the boarder between Oregon and Washington State. In the past five years paddlers have been stepping up to the large waterfalls that pour off the Oregon side and pushing deeper into the upper tributaries on the Washington side. These new destinations, along with the classics, show the potential of why class V paddlers love this area. If your looking to explore the best class V in the Columbia Gorge area, this is your best resource.

Hucker’s Guide Update!
April 5th, 2012

Ok, picking up where I left off —- The Hucker’s guide was near completion in early 2010, with two external hard drive crashes and a logic board crash on my computer, ALL within one week!, The Hucker’s Guide was lost in technology. It has taken this long to get the HD’s examined, most files were lost, and to get this project underway again. It was looking too good to throw it all away. So, work has begun again on this guidebook and with finger and toes crossed this time, It will be in print by the late fall. More updates as it gets closer…until then, keep chargin!
